Julep Maven

Well the other week I got a really good deal on becoming a Julep Maven member! I get each month a new surprise gift in the mail. Julep is a nail polish company that is up and coming.  I you are interested in subscribing to the maven program click here.

So I got the "it girl" package from doing a online Oscar's survey. It comes with 3 colours: "Rachel" which is a copper colour; "Oscar" which is a awesome glittery gold colour(which I don't own one yet so this is awesome) and "Meryl" which is a matte darker grey colour. It also has a little card with a "tip of the month" on it, which was a pretty handy tip -- but I think I will keep it a secret....maybe....

The box that my polishes came in also had a little sample of SPF 30 hand cream.

The hand cream has more of a cream smell to it rather then any perfumes, so it would be great for those who need to work in a scent-free environment. It soaks in really nicely: I had a super long day at the salon today so my hands are already super hydrated with lots of different creams, so considering that = the hand cream has the great quality of soaking in fast and not leaving anything oily behind.

So my first choice to try was Meryl, how can you not want to try associated with Meryl Streep?
So I found that one good coat was nice to put on and evened out nicely on its own. This one is definitely my favourite out of the 3. I love matte grey colours, makes me super excited for this years halloween costume I want to try, inspired by the movie "Pleasantville".

Rachel is nice, goes on well but you have to make sure you have enough on as most pearlescant polishes tend to be. Still is a very nice colour, I will probably use it more around fall/winter time.

Oscar like most glittery polishes takes 2-3 thicker coats, but I think if I combined it with Rachel I could do a nice steam punk inspired nail!

Can't wait till next month!

oh and that tip was hold a cotton puff with polish remover
on a glittery nail for a few extra seconds before wiping it off
as glittery nail polish can be a bitch to get off.
