My Magic Hair that Changes Colours and Lengths

As much as I loved the movie "The Craft" when I was a little girl: no I'm not magical and can't change my hair colour and length at will. I haven't really posted about hair before, but my hair is the most important thing about my head!(obviously boobs are first hehe) I do do hairstyles for others and at work sometimes. I really love doing vintage styled hair(see my High Tide Tattoo photo shoot post).

For the past 2 years I have been really getting into trying different styles of hair extensions...

with black clip in extensions

leopard print single strand clip ins

I started out with just the small clip in 1 strand ones, of different colours or the big clip in ones that give you a huge ponytail. The only problem with these are they are usually made out of synthetic hair and not human hair. So you can't really wash them, style them, or even brush them without ruining them. I really liked my big black ponytail clip and wore it all the time for about 6 -8  months before it got ruined(and also by that time I had dyed my hair from my natural black).

2 years ago I started to try the sewn in weaves that my hair stylist Nicole Lix did for me. I find because I do dye my hair so much and bleach the hell out of it, once my hair gets down to my shoulders it pretty much stops and I get to a stalemate with trimming it to try to get it to grow but it won't. I love having the sewn in extensions, they hurt a little bit at first from the tightness of the cornrows underneath, but they lasted months before having to re-tighten them up! They were made from human hair, so I could straighten them, style them, put them up, way better then the clip in ones.

my first set of wefts that were sewn in
After looking at Nicole's hair, which had micro loop extensions, which I thought flowed more naturally, I wanted to try those. We cut my weaves up into the smaller strands and glued them. They looked awesome and weren't as heavy as the wefts, but they are supposed to last a few weeks with minimal loss of strands. Mine came out within a month. It turns out the glue that held the strands together within the loops never dried because my head was too hot. I was sad to see them go but better then just having my strands fall out all the time. I get really nervous when lots of hair falls out, because when I was super anxious as a teenager, my hair would just fall out in clumps.

my new set of freshly dyed Manic Panic "vampire red" clip ins
I have been using some spare black 16" human extensions that I use just to give myself a undertone of black under the red, they are nice but getting old and even though I use my hair serums on them, they are breaking apart a bit. So I decided that seeing as I am so used to clip in extensions, that I would and buy a full set, of also longer hair as mine wasn't as short in comparison to when I got my first few of black wefts.  I got my new full set of extensions from a Chinese business on ebay. They were 27.50 and free international shipping, so I bought 2 sets! One black and one blond, both are 20" long and human hair. I dyed the blond ones Manic Panic 'Vampire Red' so it looks like I just have naturally long hair. I found with these that before you wash them when they still have that slight coating on them, they are sooooo soft and silky and just lift and flow in the wind. Obviously when I washed the coating off the blond ones so I could dye them they lost some of  the uber silky-ness, but they are still very nice. I use the StraightSexyHair smooth and protect flat iron  spray on them to make sure they don't get burnt or ruined as fast. Of course the amount of clips gets a little annoying but I am very used to them so these will be in my hair for a while to come as I love having big, straight and long hair.

You'd think how big I like my hair that I was the Nanny, Fran Drescher.
