Last Julep Maven Box

This will be my last post about the Julep Maven Box. I wanted to try a win 150 nail polishes but I didn't and I am finding that I am getting similar colours and not enough neat ones so yeah I'm done.
So in this month's Julep Box, I got pixie sticks(which I can't have so that sucks), vanilla mint lip balm that has SPF in it and my 3 new colours; Sash, Sandra and Morgan.

Sasha, the salmon pink colour isn't really my deal but will look nice for a pastel splatter idea I have. It is a nice matte colour.
Sandra is a metallic fuchsia pink. I liked to wear bright pinks when I had red hair, but now that I have dark purple I think I will be looking at more purples and blues for my nails.
That is always the question though when it comes to trying to figure out colours: to match or clash? I usually stay on my body matching and then clash with my clothes. But then I guess I do change it up and clash my makeup and nails with my hair and have a matching outfit.  What do you like to do?
And speaking of matching, Morgan was my favourite colour as it goes great with my dark purple hair!

The vanilla mint lip balm is super nice, I wouldn't normally think that vanilla and mint would go well but they are both subtle enough that the flavours compliment each other.

If any one knows of other good makeup trail boxes please leave a comment!

BBQin' My Polish Off

Well my grey Shellac has started to move further and further away from my cuticle and my Maven box came in so its time to take this off.
Rule #1 for taking off anything sealed on polishes be it Shellac, Acrylics or Gel nails: get a pro to take it off for you ...DO NOT FILE OFF! You will ruin your nails.
I haven't tried the foil removal yet and seeing with my gastric bypass I won't be BBQing any foil wrapped potatoes, corn, kebabs or anything awesome for that matter; I can use my tinfoil to take this polish off!

All you need is: nail polish remover with acetone or just pure acetone, cotton balls, scissors, tinfoil and a orange stick.

So soak each cotton ball in some polish remover, wrap the tinfoil around your nail with the cotton ball on each finger, shiny side in.

Wait 10 minutes and gently rub the foil around before taking off. You will notice that the polish has started to almost chip away at itself. Take the orange stick/ metal cuticle tool(I call mine the hockey stick) and push/scrape the Shellac off.

Then buff and shine your nails! Add some nice cuticle oils or put some nail strengthener on afterwards to help keep your nails healthy!

I Wear My Heart On My... Ring Finger

The other day I bought the "Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It." heart glitter polish. I was feeling extra girlie and thought I don't have that many interesting glitter polishes minus different coloured ones.

The glitter itself is nice and thick, gives a good covering in 1 coat and is very fine. Getting the hearts out is a bit harder and then you kinda gotta move them around if you have O.C.D like me.  I didn't put a top coat on top just wanted to try it but I'm sure with one, they would be 10x more glittery.
I can't wait to use this on valentine's day or on my niece, I think she'd love it!

did I mention I have purple hair now?

ooo today my new Maven box came in, till next time

Vacation Pro Mani + Pedi

my Black Zoya nails with my new shoes!
I have been a Esthetician for 5 years and still haven't revived a fully professional pedicure and manicure. I have had other professionals give me ones, but as friends so it wasn't relaxing or done fully. The other pedicure and manicures I've had are from training new staff at different spas I've worked at, so I was leaning over, telling them what to do, and getting hurt sometimes.

So while I was recovering in Hamilton from surgery, I decided I wanted to get my hands and feet done. Especially after walking around town for 3 days with the biggest blisters in between my toes from crappy sandals.

I had called around and made sure that the girl that would be doing my services was 1. as trained as me(or close) and 2. made sure they used the right equipment to clean their tools.
Sure enough they cleaned their tools properly and the girl doing it had 3 years experience.

grey Shellac nails
So I booked my appointment to get a regular pedicure and to get a mini manicure with Shellac. I had never tried Shellac before but I wanted gel nails. Either way, I wanted something more hard on my nails because of the special diet I am on, even with using OPI nail envy, my nails break all the time.

I did the pedicure first, as I would do to give my feet longer time to dry. I wasn't very happy that they had the chair whirlpool baths. I don't care how much you clean them, they will never be fully clean and I honestly don't trust many people to be competent when it comes to cleaning unless I watch them. So I was iffy, also chairs like that hurt my back. The girl who was doing my nails was very nice and all her tools were cleaned, and everything else was disposable.

When we did the manicure with the Shellac, I was never too sure what Shellac actually was, we don't have it at work and it wasn't around when I was being schooled. Shellac, for you who do not know, its a uv sealing nail polish. It has no dry time and feels like gel.  I really like it, though the girl as yuo can see, didn't pull it straight to my cuticle line.

Either way I really enjoyed my self none the less
and am going to be suggesting to bring in Shellac/ OPI Axium

Kat Von D Perfume "Saint"

So I am back and ready to start writing again. I had a Gastric Bypass, and was out of town and in the hospital for a while. But I'm home now with many new and exciting prospects coming up: tv spots, new job, going back to my other job, weddings, drag shows and photoshoots!

But let's get back to the last thing I bought a month ago from Sephora.
I picked up the small roller ball of Kat Von D's "Saint" perfume!  Now I'll be the first to admit that I am in no way a Saint. If there is a equivalent to someone who helps out and takes care of the devil's : that's me!(should of just googled this but ... yeah)
if you didn't notice Kat in this pic has covered all her beautiful tattoos with her makeup line

Now the write up on Sephora.com says : "The sweet nectar of Mirabelle Plum and sparkling juicy mandarin create an addictive, mouth-watering top. At the heart, exotic, heady Tiare flower and sweet, tempting caramel are adorned with the velvety floralcy of jasmine, the queen of the night, as she emits her spellbinding fragrance into the sky. Sensual vanilla and creamy musk combine with the warmth of sandalwood for a comforting dry down."

Now I would personally say that I don't smell any musk at all to this perfume, otherwise I wouldn't of gotten it. I am not a musk person. I have always liked spring inspired perfumes that are more flowery and smell like rain. I find them lighter and I don't want to smell like a grandma, though saying that I do wear just pure rosewater everyday, which is something my grandma has done all her life. haha.
It does smell like all the flowers and sweet smells listed above and I find its not heavy.

The little glass roller ball is awesome for your purse and lasts a good number of hours and I'm sure longer though when you are wearing it, it seems to wear out but I'm sure I still smell good.

Kat has 3 other Sephora exclusive perfumes "Sinner","Poetica" and "Adora", though I found all these smells to heavy and not my type. The bottles for all 4 are very beautiful though, just like Kat!

I'm still no saint but at least I can smell like one :)
