Wig Wars Year 2: Queen Portia Once Again!

Look Back at Last Year's wig wars here.A beard on a stick, was awesome and perfect for that performance was.. it didn't compare to the

Oh yes it made Portia Queen once again

So did the dance number

The costume changes

the basic bitchness of it all.

Though everyone was amazing and had great acts, We wish they could all be winners(they did get awesome prizes though) I loved all of their dance numbers and there were a few newbies to the group who did mind blowing performances :)

We have finally scraped with the blocking out of the eyebrows like we did in the early days. So instead I wax and shape them. We also found that keeping the beard, makes lipstick POP!The beard also helps the cheekbone contouring even more too!
I even joined in the non drag lipsync for your life round 2, and won(I better if I am the makeup aid to the queen :) )   These shows are for everyone and if you haven't been to one, try it out! They are super fun, super entertaining and awesome to support out LGBT community!

Hop Hop Bunny to the Art Show

I hope everyone had a really good easter weekend: I know I did. It was my first time with the kids so their dad and me made a giant trail of candy and toys all over the house. Watching my little girl was so cute, though she was still more interested where her cat was the whole time.

So we had saturday night off, and my friends were back home too for easter with their families. It was great, we all went downtown to go do the annual art crawl called Urban Infill put on by definitely superior art gallery

here`s a video from last year to get the idea:
DefSup's Urban Infill filmed and edited by Piotr and Andrea Skowronski from Definitely Superior Art Gallery on Vimeo.

Because it was easter, which is 2 holidays in itself (the christian resurrection and a pagan fertility festival) I wore my cross shirt from hot topic and my kid`s bunny ears.
I really something different planned as a whole art fashion piece but value village had almost no white clothes(other then plain tshirts) ..not even a white slip. I wanted to go super white goth, but I liked what I ended up doing, and my makeup plan stayed the same. I paired my flowy cross shirt with half and half black and white tights from hot topic as well.

I wore my Manson white and black wig from Pleasure Wigs, ordered through Karen @ Dolls With Toys.

For my makeup I did what I like to call "the anti scotia" makeup where I did a bit of my normal makeup but all in whites.  I used my lightest foundation and a pretty bright pink blush, that I only put on really lightly. The main focus of my makeup was to show off my "Mint to be" lipstick that I got from Lime Crime.I also used Lime Crime "Lunar Sea" uniliner as eyeliner and mascara, tried out Lush's "Focus" cream eye shadow which I was super surprised by it looking just silver but having a nice mint green tinge to it as well, this was used as my eyeliner! I got to use my young blood "Azurite" eye shadow as well(another new product) which I used as my dark  low lighter in my crease. The rest of my eye is just different intensities of white blended together.

Of course I ended covering it up for a good portion of the night with my awesome glasses but when I did take it off, everyone either really liked it, or my friends who are used to my black and dark based makeup got freaked out by it.

I had another toned down easter look, that unfortunately I don't have photos of it, but it was based in light pinks on the highlighter blending into a soft yellow and green mixture on the lid. I had bright green and pink flowers in my hair.

did anyone else do anything nice or fun for easter?

Hoppy Easter!

Bride of the Monster

Or should I say Frankenstein? I decided to try out a different costume then the one I have planned out already. I chose a classic Universal studios monster: The Bride of Frankenstein.

You would think this is a very simple makeup, but the 1 hard thing about it is the eyebrows. I have a ton of experience blocking out eyebrows to draw on better ones, but I am ashamed to admit: I have never done it on myself.

  • So I got my Graftobian spirit glue that I got from Helium Highs and covered my eyebrows first(my next VLOG will have the steps on how to do this). I used a eyebrow brush to make sure all the hair was glued to my skin.
  • I then filled it with white baby powder.
  • Next I used a super pale foundation and covered my whole face; lips, eyes, and over my eyebrows.
  • Before putting on anymore eye makeup, I put on my false eyelashes.
  • I then took my black eyeliner and drew on her iconic eyebrows.
  • I lined my water line and brought it down and forward past the inner corner of my eye.
  • Next is just plain of black lipstick.
  • I took some dark pallet red Wolf Creek water based makeup(also from Helium Highs) and a small angled brush to draw on the stitch marks along the jaw line.
  • Last tep is tie my hair back and put on my wig!
So here's the finished product.

I hope you enjoyed my Bride of Frankenstein tutorial.
Check back soon for more Halloween ideas!

Goin' To Lou Pine's

So this weekend was my friend Nicole's Bacheleorette Party. It was Lou Pine's Themed, for those of you who don't know what in the hell I am talking about.
Lou Pine's is is werewolf biker bar from the tv show True Blood.

So when you think of bikers and werewolfs what usually comes to mind?
  • silver
  • the moon
  • fur
  • leather
  • chains
  • blood
  • beards/good looking men
  • big messy hair
  • ripped jeans
So the basic colour ideas that I got was: silver, gold, yellow, neutrals, reds and blacks.
Also because it was a fun night, from a very dramatic tv show; I wanted to go very dramatic in my makeup. I wanted to focus on silvers, whites and blacks to make my eyes really pop but not clash with my hair or sexy outfit. We all were asked to dress like sexy biker chicks, which was easy for me I own a lot of leather hehe.
This is the first look I did on my eyes:
as you can see I wasn't overly impressed yet

I liked it, especially the blood red "Hussy" Merle Norman lips.
I tried to use the bright yellow from my costal sense palette, but it just wouldn't pop. I was stuck, I sat around for about 20 minutes really wanting just a pop of yellow in there, because in the show and in real life, wolf eyes are yellow. I didn't want to go buy yellow contacts, though I am going to be doing so for my Halloween costume(yes I plan months ahead for Halloween). I sat and racked my brain about how I used to have a really good yellow eye shadow and just couldn't for the life of me remember where it was. I have about 4 different train cases and drawers full of makeup: so I looked in everyone and found my bright slime green/yellow eye shadow compact from Hot Topic.

I added my little line of yellow and it just made everything come together so nicely for my look!

By the time I was done finishing my makeup, I had to redo my powder from it being so hot!
Damn Summer!

Vacation Pro Mani + Pedi

my Black Zoya nails with my new shoes!
I have been a Esthetician for 5 years and still haven't revived a fully professional pedicure and manicure. I have had other professionals give me ones, but as friends so it wasn't relaxing or done fully. The other pedicure and manicures I've had are from training new staff at different spas I've worked at, so I was leaning over, telling them what to do, and getting hurt sometimes.

So while I was recovering in Hamilton from surgery, I decided I wanted to get my hands and feet done. Especially after walking around town for 3 days with the biggest blisters in between my toes from crappy sandals.

I had called around and made sure that the girl that would be doing my services was 1. as trained as me(or close) and 2. made sure they used the right equipment to clean their tools.
Sure enough they cleaned their tools properly and the girl doing it had 3 years experience.

grey Shellac nails
So I booked my appointment to get a regular pedicure and to get a mini manicure with Shellac. I had never tried Shellac before but I wanted gel nails. Either way, I wanted something more hard on my nails because of the special diet I am on, even with using OPI nail envy, my nails break all the time.

I did the pedicure first, as I would do to give my feet longer time to dry. I wasn't very happy that they had the chair whirlpool baths. I don't care how much you clean them, they will never be fully clean and I honestly don't trust many people to be competent when it comes to cleaning unless I watch them. So I was iffy, also chairs like that hurt my back. The girl who was doing my nails was very nice and all her tools were cleaned, and everything else was disposable.

When we did the manicure with the Shellac, I was never too sure what Shellac actually was, we don't have it at work and it wasn't around when I was being schooled. Shellac, for you who do not know, its a uv sealing nail polish. It has no dry time and feels like gel.  I really like it, though the girl as yuo can see, didn't pull it straight to my cuticle line.

Either way I really enjoyed my self none the less
and am going to be suggesting to bring in Shellac/ OPI Axium

Battle of the Magnetics

So look what came in the mail! My New Julep Maven Box, and I had been waiting so long to get try a magnetic nail polish that I already went and bought one by Nails Inc. at Sephora. So now I get to test and compare both magnetics! The Maven box also came with 2 other colours and a pedi creme.
The Nails Inc colour is called "Trafalgar Square" and the Julep colours are; "Ashley"(the gold), "Parker"(the copper) and "Kylie"(the magnetic purple).

 So let's start the battle!

So obviously you can see the winner already: nails inc. wins! I had tried the "Kylie" before and the lines showed up more so then this time, I don't know what happened. I followed the instructions as directed: apply 1st coat and let set, then apply a generous 2nd coat and then quickly hold magnet over nail for 10-15 seconds. I kinda got one line on each nail, but they are very faint.

The  "Trafalgar Square" polish goes on nicely, this is 1 coat in the pic. I held the magnet over for 30 seconds and got super thin, defined lines. This magnet is attached into the cap and has a little edge on it so you can press it to your finger and not touch your nail, which is better then the Julep wand as I have very shaky hands when I do my own polish. I had held it on before on a 1st try of it and got thicker ones because I only held it over for 10 seconds.   The lines move around like those "3D" photos you can get where they transform into something else: they move up and get thicker and thinner depending on the angle you are looking at them.

The "Ashley" and "Parker" were nice, the pic is a bit crappy, I just did 1 quick coat on my nails to see the colours. I'm never a big fan of orange but I do like the yellow, I would like to put some darker gold, maybe the gold from last month's Julep Maven box over and see how it looks.

And finally I tried "The best Pedi Creme Ever!"  and it really is! it has cucumber in it and is very nice smelling, it soaks in pretty quickly and has a very awesome cooling sensation. I'm used to using foot creams that heat up because my feet always hurt, but this is a nice switch up.

Well 'till next post: Mike and Sonya's Shag
I hope someone enjoys the shag prize I donated to them!

The Fury Pillow Moved Pet themed Nails 1

Today I was inspired by the colours of my little Zephyr sleeping on his big pillow.

I used my new Julep "Meyrl" and Borghese "Red C" for the tips. I really like the thickness of the red because it covered up the line between without showing through. And liked I said before in my last post about Julep Maven program, I really like the Meryl grey colour, it goes on very nicely and dries smoothly and in a timely fashion.
I even made a little heart because I was thinking of my kitty

Maybe I will go and look at other pet colourful photos for some and make this week a themed week!
