Till Death My 3rd Year With Conflix

Tonight is the 2014 student film night for the Confederation College film class : Conflix.
I get to watch all of the amazing student's work plus once again one I worked on(only one this year? yeah I know what a gib)
This year's film is called "Till Death" it's a bride of frankenstien styled movie(of course my favourite kind)

So for once I haven't totally spoiled my work  by posting it everywhere, though during my weekend of filming I did give some sneak peaks on instagram and facebook.

This was working with a whole new group of students and actors. I love meeting new people and working with super fun and creative cast and crew. Plus lunch time and off time is always the best because I get to geek out hard about movies, and now that I am getting to be pretty older than these guys I'm winning geek outs haha.

Before yesteday I hadn't seen any of my work yet, other than being there and taking my own photos I don't know how things turned out on film.
Well Anders, the director/writter, posted the trailer and had a few shots in his film reel for all of his work up to date.

I don't know if the movie is in black and white, or if its just his trailers are.(would of been nice to know because if its in black and white the contrast on makeup is way higher and some points aren't picked up. Not fully like the old days where if you google "color addams family tv set" you will see that their entire set was bright pink. Or if you have seen the colour vs. black and white Munster's you can see how green they had to be to register their skin was even a different colour than everyone else's)

So before I bore you with any other photos from on set: here is the trailer for "Till Death"

So now some photos, this was my first try at using a pre-made halloween bald cap. they suck, or I at least need more practise with. Also my first time trying to afix other objects with scar jelly on a non porous surface. I think it still turned out good.

My beautiful bride Alyssa Novak (actress for hire :)

Can't wait to see everything tonight and hopefully talk more ideas for more oppertunites to get creative!

High Heels for Beginers

I was going through my youtube  subscriptions today to see if I have been missing anything.. and I found the perfect video.

Michelle Phan is an amazing makeup artist and I highly suggest watching her videos, I do all the time and get great tips from her vids.

She had recently posted this video(above) about "how to walk in high heels".
I really needed to watch this video because since my weight loss and my back healing a bit better from it... I've really wanted to wear my heels out more. I have a decent collection and wear them sometimes, but as the video says I always have a backup pair of flats so I can actually do stuff other then sitting there.

Just for a review this is a good chart of different kinds of shoes:

My usual types of shoes are flats. Especially when you have back problems, can't reach down to tie shoes up or anything they're the easiest. My second kind of shoes I like are platforms and skate shoes. I love the height that flat platforms can give me as I'm 5'2" and can't reach anything, I look short next to most of my friends and all my boyfriends have been taller then me so its hard to hug and kiss.

Now when I talk about my weight loss: I'm not at all saying that plus sized people can't wear heels! Heels are based on your comfort level. there is a challenge for anyone who's more top heavy to stand up straight and then balance on top of that though..But they are great for making your legs look longer.

So I had herd the advice before about trying to learn in smaller heels first and working your way up to it and I am getting it! Porn star heels here I come!

This is level 1. I wear the studded wedges the most, they are super comfortable, I can wear them all day and night and even mosh in them. The plain black ones are good for work and these I wear all day at the salon.
The taller leopard print wedges I still have a hard time with.

and unfortunately the leopard tattoo print ones are too big on me. They are a size 9 and I lost weight so I went back to my size 7.5/8 shoes.
Also not pictured is a suede burgandy pair of kitten heel boots that I love to wear and are super comfortable... I really should of bought 5 pairs of these in other colours when I found them.

This is level 2. I am currently working in the pink/nude pair and the blood splatter. the Dorthy heels I can wear  out, and the black vinyl ones were okay(once again size 9 and too big). The top marry janes, have a thicker heel but they are taller then what they look like- a kitten heel- so I have a harder time in them :s

These babies are my level 3's. I found them at value village and can't wait till I can get myself up to walking in these stilettos.... soo metal.... *drool*.

BOSS level : I do have a pair of these, in leather(not vinyl like in the photo) and I can manage to stand in them and wear them for at least 20 minutes before severe foot cramping begins. They aren't really made for walking in but some people can do it like the wonderful Miss Bettie Paige.

What kind of shoes do you like the best? What are your dream shoes?

Hop Hop Bunny to the Art Show

I hope everyone had a really good easter weekend: I know I did. It was my first time with the kids so their dad and me made a giant trail of candy and toys all over the house. Watching my little girl was so cute, though she was still more interested where her cat was the whole time.

So we had saturday night off, and my friends were back home too for easter with their families. It was great, we all went downtown to go do the annual art crawl called Urban Infill put on by definitely superior art gallery

here`s a video from last year to get the idea:
DefSup's Urban Infill filmed and edited by Piotr and Andrea Skowronski from Definitely Superior Art Gallery on Vimeo.

Because it was easter, which is 2 holidays in itself (the christian resurrection and a pagan fertility festival) I wore my cross shirt from hot topic and my kid`s bunny ears.
I really something different planned as a whole art fashion piece but value village had almost no white clothes(other then plain tshirts) ..not even a white slip. I wanted to go super white goth, but I liked what I ended up doing, and my makeup plan stayed the same. I paired my flowy cross shirt with half and half black and white tights from hot topic as well.

I wore my Manson white and black wig from Pleasure Wigs, ordered through Karen @ Dolls With Toys.

For my makeup I did what I like to call "the anti scotia" makeup where I did a bit of my normal makeup but all in whites.  I used my lightest foundation and a pretty bright pink blush, that I only put on really lightly. The main focus of my makeup was to show off my "Mint to be" lipstick that I got from Lime Crime.I also used Lime Crime "Lunar Sea" uniliner as eyeliner and mascara, tried out Lush's "Focus" cream eye shadow which I was super surprised by it looking just silver but having a nice mint green tinge to it as well, this was used as my eyeliner! I got to use my young blood "Azurite" eye shadow as well(another new product) which I used as my dark  low lighter in my crease. The rest of my eye is just different intensities of white blended together.

Of course I ended covering it up for a good portion of the night with my awesome glasses but when I did take it off, everyone either really liked it, or my friends who are used to my black and dark based makeup got freaked out by it.

I had another toned down easter look, that unfortunately I don't have photos of it, but it was based in light pinks on the highlighter blending into a soft yellow and green mixture on the lid. I had bright green and pink flowers in my hair.

did anyone else do anything nice or fun for easter?

Hoppy Easter!

Ms. Blue and the Wedding Crashed Queen

sorry this is late, and I had to do my template in paint. ugh I've been soo sick and in the hospital this week I didn't get good photos nor did I post this on time sorry:

Last Saturday was the Queen of the North drag pageant put on by Thunder Pride. Once again I was doing my girl's makeup : Queen(now ex unfortunately) Portia.

Unfortunately she was so busy and running around I couldn't get a good photo of her makeup. I do have a template of what I did though:

I had gotten this new wig that I ordered in, and by chance had also bought the heartbox blue lipstick in the states and got a new OPI liquid sand blue nail polish so I decided that my colour for the night would be blue in opposite to the colour of the year's emerald green.

  • So the wig is just a costume wig, but I liked that it had bangs and was a bright blue. Just synthetic so it only cost me around 20$.
  • The liquid sand I thought would be many coats, but this is only 2(I got one in black and red and it only took 1) it dries really fast and doesn't feel weird to touch like I thought it would.

  • for my eyes I did the brightest and sparkly blue on my lids mixed into a sparkly black. I also tinted my eyebrows a dark blue.
  • of course I used the blue lipstick as well but when held up to all the other blues I was wearing: I found it had a more purple tinge to it.

  • my outfit for the night was a blue dress that I got from Nygrad for a friends wedding. it has lines of full and mesh on the skirt and as you can see is super boob-er-riffic!
  • I paired it with a little top hat I made years ago that also has blue face netting on it with purple, green and blue flowers with peacock feathers on it.
  • I wore over top my older stripped corset but its not too big on me(its actually a 60's medical back brace corset that I sewed the striped material to it and IS FOR SALE = please contact me in interested). not seen in the photo are my matching black and white stripped tights and black victorian boots.

the only pic I could get of me and Portia.

here's a video of her 1st set of the night:

VLOG: Fairy Makeup with Xotic Eyes

My newest VLOG on ShawTV. This month I was super excited that Helium Highs sponsored me and gave me a whole bunch of new things to try out.

This week I got some Xotic Eyes and Lips decals. I have never used decals, and was super worried on how they would go on, would they stick well, fall off, look like crap?

To be fully honest when I first looked at them in the store, I was happy to try the lip decals, I've wanted to try lip tattoos for a while: I thought that some of the eye makeups I could totally do myself.

After trying them, totally changed my mind, its not that I couldn't do the makeup myself, but the EASE of doing this is so much better, especially when I'm fully booked on Halloween(not that I am yet give me a call to make an appointment!) or different big events, this would save time and still my clients will look awesome.

There were also body decals that matched this blue and purple fairy look, they were used as pasties(nipple covers) on the photo on the box, but I was thinking if you were wearing a small dress, you could make smaller wings on your bare shoulders.  Pardon the sexy photo.

Thanks again to Julie and the ladies at Helium Highs!
Go Check them out!
Check back soon for another Halloween Episode!
